The race date has been set for Saturday April 9th 2011

It was first run in 1982 and since then has become a popular spring event in the village calendar. The Race is unusual. The hilly route follows the 13.875 miles of road that circles Coniston water and there are stunning views of the surrounding mountains. View some of the runners the highlights and members of the commitee getting involved at the coniston 14 event.		The Coniston 14 is probably the most beautiful road race in Britain. Each year it attracts some 1600 runners and has a reputation for being one of the best organised small races in the country. The Race is organised by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers from Coniston village. John Kirkbride Each year over £7,000 is raised from the Race for charities and organisations in the local community. As a tribute to John Kirkbride, one of the founders of the Race, who died of cancer in 2006 the Coniston 14 Committee will each year make a major donation to St. Mary’s Hospice, Ulverston.

Runners booking the race must be aware that the race may be the longer route again because the repair to the bridge has not been completed.
However, we will revert back to the normal route if the repairs to the bridge are finished. The deadline will be October 2010.
Please do not book for the race until after this date if you do not wish to run the longer route.
